Holman Orchestra students were selected by Jazz Saint Louis to participate in their Jazz Academy, formerly Jazz in the Bistro. Students have been given the opportunity to audition and to participate in the Jazz Academy of Saint Louis.
In this program, students learn music fundamentals through jazz, accelerating student development and empowering students to be leaders in their schools. Jazz Academy fosters a sense of community by creating a safe environment that encourages creative risk-taking and personal investment in jazz.
Members meet 3 times a week after school in the Centene Jazz Education Center. Each week, Jazz Academy students receive individual lessons, ensemble instruction, academic support as needed with no cost to student families. Students also get the chance to work with touring artists through the Artist Residency program, attend Jazz St. Louis shows for free, and they perform on the Jazz St. Louis stage.
The students performed live on stage in Jazz St. Louis on December 11th at 6:00pm at Jazz St. Louis. Check out their performance below.
